We have started the renovation of Tensta Gymnasium and Tensta Träff. The building, which had been empty for five years when we took over in the spring of 2022, is now starting to come alive again.
– It’s extra fun to have a project in my old neighbourhoods. I grew up in Bromsten and my siblings went to Tensta High School,” says Hemsö’s project manager David Magnusson, who is responsible for the redevelopment.
Tensta träff now has a café and the stately Stockholm Hall can be rented through Save the Children.
In the old dining hall we have built an establishment with offices and showers for those who will work here. Two construction supervisors, ten demolition workers and three carpenters are on site right now.
In the first few months, we have been inventorying and protecting art with the help of a conservator.
Now interior walls are being demolished and a test classroom is being prepared. As the property is blue listed, we are working with the antiquarian to ensure that we build with the building. This means that we are preserving the parts that are of particularly high cultural and historical value, while developing functioning educational facilities in accordance with the government requirements for sound, fire and accessibility that apply today.
