About Campus Tensta

Campus Tensta comprises 21,000 square metres divided into two buildings, the education building and Tensta Träff. Most tenants are now in place and we look forward to welcoming more businesses that want to become part of our campus.

Hemsö’s vision

Our vision is to restore Tensta Gymnasium by creating a school campus with high-quality education where students of all ages, and from all over Stockholm, can meet. We want the premises to accommodate an elementary school, an upper-secondary school (gymnasium) and adult education/higher education.

School during the day and community meetings in the evening create a sense of security, with movement and activity throughout most of the day. We want our school campus to be a place where local residents and people from all over Stockholm can meet.

    Järva Gymnasium

Järva Gymnasium is a modern school that offers courses in the Economics Programme, the Natural Sciences Programme and the Social Sciences Programme. The school has a strong focus on knowledge, community and personal development. Through collaboration with the business community and various social actors, students have the opportunity to put their knowledge into practice and prepare for further studies or working life.

  • Tekniska

In May 2025, Tekniska will open in Tensta – a permanent branch with a focus on fun learning and meaningful leisure. The new location will offer interactive exhibitions, creative workshops and exciting activities for the whole family. Through partnerships with schools and local organisations, the museum creates an inclusive meeting place for technology enthusiasts of all ages.

  • Tensta Träff

Tensta Träff is a meeting place that creates opportunities for activities for residents in the local community, associations and other actors. You can rent premises in Tensta Träff for various types of events. The Tensta Träff association collaborates with a number of local and national actors and has offered everything from film evenings to lectures and talks free of charge for adults and children and young people.

  • Studiefrämjandet

Studiefrämjandet is one of Sweden’s largest study associations and offers popular education in the form of courses, study circles and cultural events. Studiefrämjandet has an active presence in Tensta through its involvement in Tensta Träff, where it rents premises for staff and activities. Studiefrämjandet is also involved in Campus Tensta, where it offers support to associations to strengthen democratic association life in Järva.

  • Läsfrämjarinstitutet

(The reading promotion institute) Läsfrämjarinstitutet’s establishment at Campus Tensta is a further development of the work to strengthen the reading and writing skills of children, young people and adults, with the aim of inspiring a love of reading and increased linguistic competence in the Järva area. Through partnerships with schools, libraries and local organisations, they offer reading promotion activities, book circles and workshops.

  • Sarah’s café

In Tensta Träff, Sarah Bargadle and the Hawo-Tako association have been running a café since autumn 2022 – a meeting place mainly for women to meet and socialise, but men are of course also welcome. The café is open between 6-18 on weekdays, Saturdays 9-15 and Sundays 10-14. You are welcome to enjoy a steaming cup of coffee or why not a good lunch. They offer Somali, Turkish and Arabic food.

Careful renovation of unique environments

Since Hemsö took possession of the property in spring 2022, the educational building has been carefully renovated and adapted for modern teaching. We have preserved the original architectural expression of the upper secondary school while making the necessary improvements to meet today’s educational needs.

Tensta Träff and the neighbouring Pilparken are part of Campus Tensta and will be developed in a similar way – carefully and with great respect for the history and original idea of the place. The refurbishment of the park, including a larger outdoor stage, was completed for the autumn term 2024 and was inaugurated in October. It is gratifying that the campus is once again bustling with activity, with the first tenants in place and more on the way.

  • History

In 1984, the doors of Tensta gymnasium opened for the first time. In magnificent, Japanese-inspired buildings, one of Stockholm’s best upper secondary schools opened, while Tensta Träff became the new meeting point for Tensta residents. The buildings were designed by architect Gösta Uddén.

    Citizen dialogue

Before the place develops, Hemsö wants to listen to those who live nearby, work or go to school in Tensta and/or visit the place. What needs do you have and how do you see the location contributing to Tensta in the future?
